PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
I am thrilled to see the level of engagement from
our members on issues that shape the engineering
profession. Your voices hold immense power and
I am proud to be a part of a platform that creates
space for your insights
The talent of engineers supports the
success of all sectors, from agriculture
to architecture to clean technology. I
am proud to be a part of a profession that
sparks creativity, driving groundbreaking
innovative solutions to complex problems.
Without the talent and expertise of our
local engineers, the progress of essential
sectors would remain static.
As I settle into my role as President and
Chair, I want to thank all our members for
your outstanding engagement throughout
2021. While the pandemic continues, the
enthusiasm of our members did not falter,
driving OSPE's dedication to the broader
purpose of advocating for engineers,
connecting opportunities and aligning
the government, media and public on the
value of engineers. This past Fall 2021,
OSPE hosted multiple separate town halls
to get your feedback on what the Society
should focus on in order to support our
members over the next three years. Taking
measurable action on your feedback is a
priority for our Board of Directors who will
meet in December, along with the Portage
Group, to analyze and create a plan using the
input given. We want more of your feedback
so OSPE will be holding another round of
town halls in the New Year so I encourage
our members to continue engaging.
The New Year is right around the corner,
bringing an opportunity for engineers to
have their voices heard. This year, I was
pleased to see many members provide their
input in OSPE's Professional Engineers
Act Working Group (PEAWG), advocating
for what our profession and community
deserves, including a focus on time limit
on licensing application process and the
regulation of the engineering title. To learn

OSPE is built to work in the favour of
engineers, this structure is needed now
more than ever as we feel the growing
pains of the world finding the new normal
in a post-pandemic society. We rely on your
insight more than ever and to continue
keeping our lines of communication open,
we invite you to participate in the several
member consultations scheduled for 2022
where the platform is built to hear your
voices on prevalent issues like the climate
crisis and the future of engineering licenses
in Canada.
While President, I will continue to
dedicate my time to OSPE's mission
and working within our values. I have
full confidence in the engagement of our
members in the upcoming months as we
put your voices at the core of our work in
ensuring the best for our engineers.
