CEO'S MESSAGE
Being the CEO of a Society that really cares about
the work we do is fulfilling and it's encouraging to
see our work produce impactful results.
With the world beginning to open, it is
time to capitalize on the opportunities
uncovered during the multiple lockdowns,
including how to optimize engineering
talent. OSPE is getting ready for a new
cohort of strategic planning sessions, as
our members are the driving force behind
our advocacy work, radiating confidence
in OSPE's ability to make a future of
engineering an inclusive one.
This past year was incredible for OSPE
initiatives, with encouraging engagement
levels from members, especially during a
global pandemic. It was fantastic seeing
nearly 2,000 people virtually join our
Engineering Conference on October 6 and
7 to discuss the future of the profession and
how engineers must become leaders in the
field. With the experience of connecting
with our members motivating us, we
are already looking forward to hosting
Canada's largest engineering, recruitment,
diversity & inclusion and professional
development conference in person during
the Fall of 2022. From the climate crisis
to big data, project engineering to clean
energy, if your expertise lends itself to a
critical conversation related to the future
of engineering, we want to hear from

Our committees are organized to
prioritize prevalent areas of interest and
expertise on behalf of our members. We
depend on our engaged volunteers to
bring forward the most pressing issues
and come together with other engineers
to collaborate and find solutions. This fall
and into the New Year, our Committees
and Task Forces have joined forces to look
at the climate crisis from several different
lenses and will be bringing ideas to the
membership-at-large through a Climate
Crisis consultation. We hope you will
join them and contribute your own ideas
and expertise to ensure the profession is
leading in this space.
The OSPE team truly cares about
working with our members to achieve
our advocacy goals, and it radiates in the
work of our Committees, Task Forces
and Working Groups. OSPE members are
engaged now more than ever, and this is
showing through the number of engineers
that continue to join. Thank you for making
my job such an enjoyable experience! I
encourage you to continue raising your
voices, because government, the media and
the public are listening.
While our goals for the
upcoming strategic
plan might change, our
dedication to advocate for
an inclusive engineering
sector is our constant
