Jocelyn Bell

Jocelyn was named the new editor-publisher of The United Church Observer. The magazine’s managing editor since 2006, Jocelyn served as editor of Childview magazine before joining the Observer.

Wendy Burton
Public Policy and Administration (master’s) ’06
Wendy received her PhD in geography from the University of Toronto in November 2016, graduating the same day that her son Robbie received his computer science degree. In January 2017, she began teaching part-time at Ryerson, delivering a course on urban sustainability policy and in fall 2017 began teaching full-time as an assistant professor in the Department of Geography & Environmental Studies. “It’s great to be back!” she writes.

Mirella Christou
Journalism ’07
After receiving her MFA in dramatic writing at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Mirella was awarded the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Prize for writing for her dramatic series pilot script “Seven Eternities.” The script is a period piece tracing the trajectory of characters involved with early psychedelic research. Additionally, it was shortlisted for a fellowship at the Writers Guild of America East. Mirella’s proof-ofconcept short film Lady Electric is also gaining attention at international film festivals. Mirella splits her time between New York City, Los Angeles and Toronto.

Anita Doron

Anita won a Canadian Screen Award for best adapted screenplay for The Breadwinner. The film was also nominated for both a Golden Globe and an Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film, among many other awards.

Erdem Moralioğlu
Fashion ’01
The London-based designer created a capsule collection for H&M in 2017. The wardrobe featured romantic but modern womenswear, an accessories line, and, for the first time ever, a collection for men. Collection highlights included sharp tailoring echoing his own father’s suits and coats, dramatic dresses reflecting his love of classic cinema and floral designs reminiscent of his catwalk collections.

Caroline (Skorayko) Lesley
Theatre Performance ’00
Caroline has worked as an actor, producer, and writer in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Toronto, most recently appearing in the television series Condor, and the television game show Just Like Mom and Dad. Caroline first moved to New York in 2005 and worked for Entertainment Weekly’s website as a producer and entertainment correspondent interviewing celebrities such as Justin Timberlake, Brad Pitt and Al Gore. She has voiced hundreds of television and radio commercials for products from Yoplait to McDonald’s. While in New York she performed her one-woman show, “Doppelganger Joe,” at the New York International Fringe Festival. In San Francisco, she filmed the Sundance and Cannes awardwinning film Fruitvale Station. She also studied and performed with the renowned comedy school The Groundlings in Los Angeles. She lives in Toronto with her husband, Jon Erlichman, BNN and CTV news anchor, and their two daughters.
