QUALIFIED COMPUTER SCIENCE graduates are in
high demand. And over the last few years,
the Department of Computer Science has
steadily expanded its faculty and programming
offerings. Today, we offer students a powerful
balance of solid in-class teaching and realworld experience.
Recognizing lecture-based instruction is not
enough, we complement engaging classroom
teaching with in-house access to the best
equipment, online testing and tutorial facilities.
Externally, we've forged partnerships with
industry, government and non-profit sectors.
Altogether, our students have invaluable
hands-on learning opportunities through coop placements, in-class projects and work with
external partners.
Finally, our department has continued to
invest in research. Students can delve into
such innovative areas as: big data, robotics,
cloud computing, data security, machine-tomachine communications and computer vision.
Dr. Eric Harley, our chair, says the coming
years will bring more industry collaborations,
and more multidisciplinary research with other
Ryerson departments.
