THE FACULTY OF SCIENCE came into being in 2012
and I was honoured to be appointed as the
founding dean. The Faculty of Science was a
new entity and I was new to Ryerson University.
Together we forged a bold new direction and a
strong identity, reflecting the creativity, passion
and excellence that has existed in the faculty
from the beginning.
Building on a solid foundation of excellent
programming and rigorous research, the
Faculty of Science is now the only fully
comprehensive faculty at Ryerson University,
delivering undergraduate and graduate
programming in all departments. Students
come to the Faculty of Science for robust
foundational sciences coupled with careerfocused opportunities. We have invested
in collective research strengths through
transformative infrastructure projects and
provided a supportive home for collaborative
initiatives such as the Ryerson Urban Water
centre and the Privacy and Big Data Institute.
The Faculty of Science has achieved so
much in five years, we can only show a selection
