We focus on applying physics to today's health-care concerns - from improving the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, modelling the spread of the influenza virus to help manage the disease spread and more. Students in our department receive a firstclass physics education that emphasizes both conceptual and practical learning. Classroom teaching features innovative methods and draws directly on research by our renowned faculty members. And with our co-op option, students get hands-on opportunities in reallife hospital settings. In the last few years, our highlights have included: gaining the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Educational Programs (CAMPEP) accreditation for our Biomedical Physics graduate programs; and a list of ground-breaking collaborations with leading institutions such as Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Sunnybrook's Odette Cancer Centre and St. Michael's Hospital. Altogether, our standout program, the only one of its kind in the GTA, offers students incredible opportunities and is making a difference in Canada and beyond.
