Brendan Shanahan, NHL legend and President of the Toronto Maple Leafs, shared his experiences in business with future HELIX entrepreneurs, highlighting the importance that leadership and team-building play in creating a successful organization.
Animation faculty and graduates teamed up with the Art Gallery of Ontario to produce the first virtual reality art exhibit of its kind. The exhibit went on to be displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
Students, staff and alumni published A Celebration of Indigenous Culture at Seneca. The book documents Seneca’s long history of supporting Indigenous education and culture, and features Indigenous art, fashion and stories.
At the seventh annual all-employee meeting in August, President Agnew shared highlights of Seneca’s 2017- 2022 strategic plan, which received Board approval in June.
Patrick Brown, leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, and leader of the official opposition, visited Newnham Campus in March. He joined President Agnew on a tour that included the flight simulator, HELIX and a discussion with students.
Rudy Koehler, Seneca’s most generous individual donor (pictured with wife, Rita), was named to the Order of Canada for his philanthropic work, notably directed at helping youth overcome adversity.
The 2016 United Way Campaign was an overwhelming success, with students and employees raising $172,566 through donations and fundraising initiatives in support of more than 250 United Way agencies throughout Toronto and York Region.
Seventeen dippers braved the frigid waters of Lake Seneca at the annual Polar Bear Dip. The event raised a record $11,476 in donations toward the Campaign for Students.
The Hon. Steven Del Duca, Transportation Minister and Member of Provincial Parliament for Vaughan, joined President Agnew, faculty, staff and students at Markham Campus on Bell Let’s Talk Day for a roundtable discussion on how to support student mental health.
