The Nicola Valley is home to Merritt, the Country Music Capital of Canada, and Douglas Lake Ranch, the largest working cattle ranch in Canada. Wind erosion has carved unique formations in the walls of the canyons near Merritt and the ancient shorelines of 10,000-year-old glacial lakes are still visible in the surrounding grasslands where cattle graze undisturbed. The Nicola Valley includes the communities and hamlets of Merritt and Aspen Gove and the surrounding area of Douglas Lake Ranch.
