DFI Builds Relationships in Colombia
From November 14 to 18, 2022, DFI
participated in the XVII Congreso
Colombiano de Geotecnia (Colombian
Geotechnical Congress) in Cartagena,
Colombia, teaming with the Sociedad
Colombiana de Geotecnia (Colombian
Geotechnical Society).

Gerressen, Dipl.-Ing., Bauer, and Lucky
Nagarajan, Giken; along with DFI 2022
Annual Conference Chair Sebastian
Lobo-Guerrero, Ph.D., P.E., D.GE, A.G.E.S.,
participated as presenters, panelists
and session chairs during the event.
DFI corporate member, Rocscience,
also conducted a one-day short course
during the conference.
One of the highlights of the event
was the " Mujeres en Ingenieria
Geotecnica " (Women in Geotechnical
Engineering) panel sponsored by DFI.
The panel included Nagarajan, Silvana
Sebastian Lobo-Guerrero and Lucky Nagarajan met with Sociedad de Ingenieros y Arquitectos de Bolivar
President Eladio Uparela (right) and Executive Director Dionisio Barrios (left)
Montoya-Noguera, Ph.D., Universidad
EAFIT; Ana Maria Parra, Ph.D., CPS; and
Ellen Rathje, Ph.D., P.E., University of
Texas, and it was moderated by LoboGuerrero.
After
the conference, Lobo-Guerrero
and Nagarajan also visited Sociedad de
Ingenieros y Arquitectos de Bolivar
(SIAB) in Cartagena to meet with its
pres ident , Eladio Uparela, and
Executive Director Dionisio Barrios to
explore future collaborations between
DFI and SIAB. Lobo-Guerrero also
visited the Sociedad Colombiana de
Geotecnia in Bogota, Colombia, and its
president, Mario Camilo Torrers, Ph.D.,
also to explore future partnerships
between the organizations. DFI is proud
to support technical development in the
region and continues to explore
collaboration opportunities in Colombia
and South America.
