Raymond W. Henn, age
73, passed away suddenly
in Centennial,
Colorado, on March 28,
2022. Henn was president
of the American
Underground Association (UCA) 20022004,
a distinguished member of the
Society for Mining, Metallurgy &
Exploration, The Moles and the Beavers.
He was a course director and active
organizer of Deep Foundation Institute's
(DFI) Shotcrete Short Course, published
more than two dozen professional
papers and authored three American
Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)
textbooks on grouting for underground
construction. He established the first
UCA student chapter, which is at the
Colorado School of Mines, and served as
the faculty advisor for 8 years.
He served with the Green Berets in
Vietnam and Okinawa, Japan, from
1967-1969. After the military he
attended New York City Community
College, followed by graduating with a
degree in geology from Queens College
of the City University of New York.
In 1973 he married Patricia Ann
Donegan in New York. While working in
Oswego, New York, for Stone and
Webster Engineering he completed a
master's degree from SUNY in association
with Syracuse University. After
completing the Raystown Hydro Project
outside State College, Pennsylvania, the
family was transferred to Centennial,
Colorado. While living there he also
worked on the Dallas Light Rail Tunnel
Project. He began work on a doctorate in
mining and earth systems engineering
at Colorado School of Mines. Upon
graduation he was an adjunct professor
at Mines while working for Haley and
Aldrich and then Lyman Henn. He later
worked for Brierley Associates before
forming his own business, RW Henn, LLC.

Phil Myles has joined Menard USA as
chief operating officer. Myles brings
more than 30 years of experience to the
role, having served more than 20 years
at Soletanche Bachy and, most recently,
10 years as the general manager of
Menard in the Middle East and Central
Asia. He will be based in Menard USA's
corporate office in Pittsburgh.

to focus on our
operations. Phil will lead in the planning
and development of local, regionalized
operations teams built around our central
corporate services, while mentoring
our next generation of operational

Equipment Corporation of America
(ECA) and ECA Canada Company
announced staff changes at several
branches in North America.
Sarah Marshman
has been promoted to
parts and service manager
at ECA Boston. She
joined the branch when
it opened in 2015. She
earned a promotion to office manager
six months later by handling a diverse
range of responsibilities including
administrative, rental, parts and service.
Marshman's new role will require
managing all aspects of ECA Boston's
parts and service while also managing
office duties.
Chris Horne has
accepted the position of
service manager for ECA
Canada Company. He
has been a long-time
fixture at the company,
serving as shop foreman for the last 5
years and a service technician for 10
years. As service manager, he is now
responsible for managing all aspects of
the ECA Canada service department,
including the management of technicians
and satisfaction of customers.
Since joining ECA, Horne has attended
college from 2015 to 2018 to become a
crane operator, and in 2018, wrote the
CFQ exam and became a licensed red
seal 339A hoisting engineer-mobile
crane operator 1 journeyman.
Eric Shiring has
been promoted from
accounting manager to
human resources manager.
Stationed at ECA
Pittsburgh, he will be
responsible for human resources, benefits
management, workers' compensation,
payroll and safety. He previously
managed various aspects of ECA's
finances. Shiring earned a bachelor's
degree in business administration in
2002 from California University of
Pennsylvania.
Sam Simon has been named service
manager for ECA Philadelphia. A former
business owner, he comes to ECA after
owning an HVAC service, installation
and repair business. He
started his career as a
mechanic/technician,
diagnosing, repairing
and servicing mechanical
equipment. Simon
began with cars, trucks and buses and
continued on to commercial and
industrial HVAC equipment.
Keller announces several branch
promotions.
Ray Franz, P.E.,
D.GE, was promoted to
a r e a m a n a g e r o f
northern California.
With more than 30
years of experience in
geotechnical consulting and specialty
construction, Franz has worked with
micropiles, auger cast piles, anchors,
dynamic compaction, rigid inclusions,
