Great Lakes Environmental & Infrastructure has changed its name to Forgen.
The company remains a national leader in
the environmental remediation and
infrastructure technology markets, and
continues to be headquartered in
Centennial, Colorado, with regional offices
in Rocklin, California; Denton, Texas;
Cummings, Georgia; and Brielle, New
Jersey. Forgen has retained the same great
staff, but is stronger than ever and wellpositioned for success as an independent
firm. The company has a new logo and
color scheme that symbolizes strength and
direction, with navy blue and a bold red. Its
tagline, 'For Generations,' is an acknowledgment of a commitment to its people
and community, and to improving the
environment for generations to come.

Forgen has recently made a number of
strategic investments that significantly
increase its national presence, opportunity pipeline and ability to execute largescale, challenging projects.
Shannon & Wilson, a geotechnical and
environmental consulting firm, announces a
change in leadership in
2020. Gerard Buechel,
P.E., stepped down after
16 years as president.
Taking the reins is Greg
Fischer, Ph.D., P.E., who
has served the past 15 of
his 30-year tenure with the
firm as chairman of the
board. Both Buechel and
Fischer have demonstrated
unwavering dedication to
the success of Shannon & Wilson and the
quality work the firm provides in civil
engineering, surface water, groundwater,
geotechnical engineering, geology and
natural resources services to provide
comprehensive, single-company solutions
to infrastructure and environmental projects
across the U.S. and beyond. Fischer started
his career in geotechnical and civil

engineering at Shannon & Wilson, where in
1986 he spent one year in the St. Louis office
before moving to Seattle, where he worked
from 1990 to 2000. He then relocated to
open the Denver office, which he had been
managing for 19 years. Stepping into the
role of president, Fischer will relocate to the
firm's corporate headquarters in Seattle,
Washington. Buechel will continue to work
on technical projects and assist with the
leadership transition.
Robertson Geologging provided a new
GeoKey system for land-based oil and gas
production drilling in West Africa. The
exploration and production client purchased the GeoKey logging system as part
of a self-sufficiency strategy to bring openhole logging capabilities in-house.
Manufacture of the GeoKey Triple Combo
System under the ISO9001 certified
manufacturing processes was completed
last August. The system was tested to
125°C/12,500 psi (257°F/86.2 MPa) in
Robertson Geo's Hydratron test facility,
followed by final Quality Control verification of the system log response in the
company's test borehole in Deganwy, U.K.
The Hydratron stresses the logging system
under real-world environmental test conditions to maximum system specification,
first ramping to maximum pressure, then
increasing the temperature from ambient
to 125°C (257°F) conditions, holding this
temperature for a two-hour soak test.

The National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO)
has produced a book about the organization's history. In 15 chapters, Raising the
Bar: How NCCCO is transforming worksite
safety through certification excellence, tells
the story of 25-plus years in which the
organization developed and how it has
created tests of knowledge and skill
essential for worksite safety. Graham Brent,
founding CEO of NCCCO, authored and
edited the 165-page hard cover book that
was developed with financial assistance
from NationsBuilders Insurance Services,
Manitowoc, Morrow, Specialized Carriers
& Rigging Association and Terex. The ISBN
to purchase Raising the Bar is 978-0-57858086-9.
GFA International in Florida recently
merged with Universal Engineering
Sciences (UES), which also has offices in
Georgia, in the metropolitan area of
Washington D.C. and in the Carolinas. In
the near term, the two companies will
operate separately, but will be integrated
during 2020. Seymour Israel, Mark Israel,
Frank Frione and Fred Kaub will continue
to lead the combined companies. GFA is a
32-year-old company that, as with the 56year-old UES, provides services that
include geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, construction materials
testing and inspections, building code
compliance, and facilities consulting. The
combined company resources include 26
offices and 1,200-plus staff working
