specially designed boom with 2 lift
cylinders, allowing for a higher torque
and crowd force to be applied to the tool,
which aligns with interlocking Kelly
bars, for efficient rock and hard soil
drilling. Round friction bars are also
available for high production in softer
soils. The LR65 is the smallest model of
the new series, and is mounted on a
CAT323 base. This model can be
transported in one load, with the Kelly
bar on, and can be set up without
support equipment. It is also equipped
with CZM's control system to monitor
drilling parameters, perform some
functions automatically and to help
with diagnostics and maintenance
records, with remote telematics system
troubleshooting an option.

Keller Group and VSL International
announced their 50:50 joint venture
(KVJV) has been awarded a $234 million
(£167 million) contract to deliver
geotechnical work as part of the C1
section of a new high-speed line
between London and the West
Midlands. The contract for the High
Speed 2 in the U.K. was awarded to
KVJV by Align, a joint venture of three
international infrastructure companies: Bouygues Travaux Publics SAS,
a subsidiary of Bouygues Construction;

Sir Robert McAlpine; and VolkerFitzpatrick, a subsidiary of VolkerWessels UK, which is building the C1
section of the new high-speed line. This
section consists of 13.4 mi (21.6 km) of
high-speed rail infrastructure,
including a 2.1 mi (3.4 km) viaduct and
twin-bore 9.9 mi (16 km) tunnels under
the Chilterns chalk escarpment. KVJV's
scope of work is to construct the piled
foundations for the viaducts, grouting
works, retaining structures for four
v e n t i l a t i o n s h a f t s , a n d g ro u n d
improvement works for the execution
of the tunnel cross passages. KVJV has
already completed supplementary site
investigations and pile testing. The
teams are currently working on

Jeffrey Machine has broken ground on
a new 14,000 sq ft (1,300 sq m)
warehouse facility. The warehouse in
Birmingham, Alabama, will be the new
home for stock tools and shipping and
will have new technology for inventory
and stock tools, while housing a
dedicated shipping area for pickups.
