New Website Enhances DFI Community
DFI is about to launch its new website and data management system after several
years of discussion, review, surveying, planning, rewriting, image gathering, video
creation and major decisions. And it was all well worth it! You can learn the details on
page 45 and share feedback after checking out the new www.dfi.org.
Meanwhile, I want to thank DFI leadership for their vision of our online, twoway
window to the world - where we've made it easier for members and the
industry to find out what DFI is up to and find up-to-date resources vetted and
agreed upon by a diverse group of geoprofessionals, and where members and
interested visitors can engage with each other. The revised DFI web portal furthers
our goal to be THE place the industry turns to for reliable technical information on
geotechnical engineering involving deep foundations, earth retention and ground
improvement for every professional involved in such projects. Whether you just
entered the field or are a seasoned professional, supply materials and equipment, or
design, construct, test or monitor foundation systems, research new methods or
own a project site, we want you contributing to conversations and industry
products we provide.
Diversity, equity and inclusion have always been part of our core mission, while
supporting an equal playing field throughout our construction niche.
We don't serve one segment, but all, and this new site
allows everyone to share information and input on our
final offerings so they are the most valuable.

I must also thank members and industry contacts for their formal or informal
feedback on our original online presence. We learned that not much was missing,
but that content could be arranged in a more modern, concise way, with simpler
paths and links to information for members and new visitors; that new rich media
(which is more interactive, like blog posts) would be more appealing, as would
having information be accessible from any type of device.
We've listened and adjusted, and now want your input to ensure we got it right.
The new DFI site includes a feedback menu item at upper left. After poking around,
please let us know your impressions. Just as with your membership, the more we
hear back, the better we can serve your needs. And if we missed the mark on
something, we can adjust again so the website offers what users and visitors need in
just a few clicks and searches.
A hidden bonus is that the DFI staff and I now have more streamlined ways to
accomplish some tasks. That means we will have more time to brainstorm new
activities and ways to support all of you. That's the part of our jobs we love -
working with all of you. We hope that being part of the DFI community is also your
passion, and that you enjoy having that community more easily at your fingertips at
the new www.dfi.org.
