fter expanding patient
access in the highly
restricted markets of
Louisiana and Washington DC,
Dr. Chanda Macias is growing
her footprint. New markets
will include those that need
her expertise in patient rights,
criminal justice reform and
cannabinoid medicines for
therapeutic benefits.
As an advocate for women
and minorities, she will
continue to grow National
Holistic Healthcare to
assist the communities she
represents and change the
lives of patients.
HERSTORY
In 2014, Dr. Macias became
the first African-American
woman awarded a medical
marijuana retail license, and
in 2015 she opened National
Holistic Healing Center in
Washington DC. She has since
won licenses in multiple states.
As CEO of Ilera Holistic
Healthcare, Macias partnered
with Southern University
Ag Center to cultivate and
process cannabis in Baker,
Louisiana. Under Macias'
leadership, the school became
the first HBCU to launch
cannabis-based products and
bring flower to market.
Dr. Macias educates women
entrepreneurs as chair of
the board of managers and
CEO for Women Grow, the
global leader in connecting,
educating and empowering
women leaders in the cannabis
industry.
She also is vice-chair of the
National Cannabis Roundtable
(NCR) board and has
served on the board of the
Minority Cannabis Business
Association.
Dr. Macias earned a Ph.D.
in cellular biology from
Howard University and an
MBA from Rutgers University.
As a research scientist, she
investigated oral diseases and
treatment options at ColgatePalmolive
Co. and contributed
to the launch of several billiondollar
brands. Her numerous
scientific achievements and
innovations have resulted in
patents and publications.
