Since its founding in 2001, Thompson has billed itself
as a brand synonymous with modern sophisticated
travel, with layered design, thoughtful F&B, and a strong
connection to each of its locations in the U.S. and Mexico.
" The Thompson Hotels brand takes pride in introducing
travelers to the destinations they are visiting while
appealing to the people who live there, and Thompson
Hollywood is the perfect example of that, " says Kenneth
Villamil, vice president, product and brand development for
Hyatt's Boundless portfolio, which includes its Thompson
as well as Andaz, Alila, Hyatt Centric, and Caption brands.
Grant King, managing partner at Relevant Group,
which developed the hotel, adds that each of the company's
properties has a reason for existence and adds to the
fabric and visibility of its neighborhood. With Thompson
Hollywood, the goal was to raise the level of sophistication
in the area, which has traditionally been thought of only
as a nightlife and entertainment destination-a deciding
factor for bringing Tara Bernerd & Partners on to design
the hotel's entrance lobby, reception, concierge, lobby
lounge bar, corridors, and all 190 guestrooms and 24 suites.
" As they are London-based, we wanted to have Tara
and her team bring a new perspective to Hollywood, "
King explains.
Villamil points to the hotel's F&B outlets as further
key indicators of Thompson's ethos. " From the thoughtfully
designed, Riviera-inspired rooftop lounge by Tara Bernerd
& Partners, to Martin Brudnizki's sophisticated dining
concepts, Thompson Hollywood was constructed to invite
guests to embrace a breezy Angeleno lifestyle, "
he says.
For example, Villamil adds, the lobby bar-topped
with a retro-green onyx-serves up coffee, cocktails, and
casual bites " all with the laidback hospitality emblematic of
the brand's goal to ensure everyone who walks through the
doors feels more like a resident than a guest. " BD
