The spending spree
continued when it came to
bonuses paid out, with 83%
of integrators reporting they
paid out some type of bonus
to their employees, either
in the form of cash or some
other value. The median bonus
value paid by an integrator
to his employees nearly
doubled to $1,441 in 2022,
up from $847 the previous
year. The most common
bonus methodology is one
based on overall company
performance, followed by
flat dollar amounts that
can be earned. Still, 13% of
dealers offer bonuses for individual
project profitability.
Amazingly, the only role
within a custom installation
company that did not get a
raise was the owner! Integration
firm owners actually
cepro.com
lowered their own salary by
1.8% last year to $120,265
(not including company
profits, a clear sign they are
thinking about their staffs
before themselves). That
does not mean integration
firm owners were suffering.
Most owners not only draw
a salary, but they also consider
total company profits
as part of their income. Only
18% of integration company
owners do not draw a salary.
While the median owner
pay is $120,265, about 13%
of owners pay themselves
more than $200,000, with
9% of company execs earning
more than $250,000.
As noted, the average
hourly wage for an entry-level
technician in 2022
rose by $2.24 per hour
nationally. That is on the
heels of a $1.28 per hour

Integrators anticipate paying 3.9% more in salaries next
year across all positions. As inflation takes hold, CE pros
are not able to offer smaller pay hikes. Heading into 2022,
triple the percentage of dealers thought they would only
have to offer 1% to 2% pay increases. That percentage
shrunk to just 6% heading into 2023.
