Joining the audiovisual
club in middle school was
Morocho's first step into AV,
a path that resonates with
many others in our industry.
Fast forward, Morocho
married both these
interests at Binghamton
University, from which he
graduated with a degree in
mechanical engineering in
2019. This was an incredible
milestone for Morocho
since he was the first in his
family to attend and graduate
from college. That, by itself,
demonstrates his drive
and ambition. Moreover,
he gained experience as an
intern with the integrated
communications technology
team at Shen Milsom
& Wilke in New York before
graduating, and he continued
to work as a full-time
consultant with the team
after his graduation.
Working on projects virtually
became the norm for
Morocho, as the pandemic
lockdown hit soon after he
started working full time.
He liked seeing how his
colleagues responded and
reacted during meetings,
so he favors video calls
with cameras on. He also
prefers working in the office,
as he feels less intrusive
when asking a colleague a
question. Being in person
also allows him to enjoy
unplanned collaboration
and fun moments with his
colleagues. Nevertheless,
Morocho acknowledges
that hybrid work has some
benefits: He has more
flexibility to choose working
hours, rather than following
a traditional office schedule.
When working from home,
Morocho prefers to start his
work earlier in the morning
to give himself flexibility
later in the afternoon.
Although Morocho values
work/life balance, he admits
that stress can build up
when he must handle multiple
projects. " You have to
do your best with the time
you have, " he says. Thus,
Morocho believes that it is
important to take a break
and disconnect when stress
starts to build up. He likes to
walk his dog or grab a meal
whenever he needs a pause.
Most of Morocho's projects
involve the education
vertical. He goes on to
describe how delivering
content to students on
campus is a major issue
in the higher-education
space. Morocho notes that
universities are putting up
displays throughout campuses
and classrooms, and
they're acknowledging that
digital-content messaging
and management are important
for students. " Taking
a picture of a screen to
capture what the professor
is teaching is a thing of the
past, " Morocho remarks.
Morocho's digital competency
gives him an advantage
at work and enables
him to have " ...everything he
needs, when he needs it. "
He is always keen to learn
and is currently enhancing
his designing skills under
the guidance of his mentors,
Nicholas Sciannameo
and Mark Peterson. " Being
able to ask for help and not
have it appear transactional
happens organically and
makes connections deeper, "
he says. Morocho also
appreciates his mentors
and recommends that AV
newbies build connections
with people they meet and
network regularly. Then,
he stresses the need to be
kind to everyone, while also
articulating the importance
of observing how other people
advance in their career.
They provide an example
to follow. Morocho also
suggests finding a company
that rewards achievements
and offers opportunities for
internal promotion.

with his 13-year-old pug,
Charlie.
