DISNEY INCLUDES 55+ HOUSING IN NEW NEIGHBORHOODS

HIS SPRING THE Walt Disney Co. (Los Angeles)
announced it plans to introduce Storyliving
by Disney, master-planned communities
that will include 55+ housing.
The first community, Cotino, is planned for
Rancho Mirage, Calif., and will comprise approximately
1,900 units, including condominiums,
single-family homes, and estates, with a portion
designated for residents 55 and older.
The project is expected to surround a 24-acre
" sustainable oasis. " A voluntary club membership
will offer access to a waterfront clubhouse,
club-only beach area, and recreational water
activities, as well as Disney programming, entertainment,
and activities.
Cotino is being developed in collaboration with
developer DMB Development (Scottsdale, Ariz.).

memory care community, with residents able to use amenities
such as a pub and café.
Silverado Red Rock memory care community opened in
Las Vegas. The single-story, 36,381-square-foot community
includes 60 units and 72 resident beds. Amenities
feature enclosed courtyards and walking trails, a garden,
bistros, and country kitchen.
Koelsch Communities (Olympia, Wash.) opened Park
at Laguna Springs in Elk Grove, Calif., a $75 million, 55+
independent living community. Amenity spaces include
a billiards room, theater, bistro, library, salon and spa,
fitness center, and courtyard.
United Properties (Minneapolis) held a grand opening for
Amira Bloomington, a new 55+ active adult community in
Bloomington, Minn. The 133-unit, five-floor community
offers a variety of residential unit options. An enclosed
walkway connects the new community to Amira Choice
Bloomington, an independent living, assisted living, and

Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers, Fla., completed
the $78 million Larsen Health Center in Shell Point's
Waterside neighborhood. The 200,000-square-foot facility
includes a 180-bed skilled nursing unit, medical center, behavioral
health suite, and rehabilitation center. The skilled nursing
rooms units are organized into neighborhoods that include a
living room, activity room, and family conference room.
Morning Pointe Senior Living (Ooltewah, Tenn.) has completed
Phase 1 at Morning Pointe of Hardin Valley, in Knoxville,
Tenn. The project includes a 65,000-square-foot assisted
living and memory care community. Two additional phases
will add an independent living community and a dedicated
Alzheimer's memory care building.
Northwest Neighborhoods CDC and Cleveland Public Library
are partnering on a $11.6 million project that will add a new
library branch in the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood with
a connected 55+ affordable senior living community. The
five-story, 51-unit Karam Senior Living will have direct access
to the library and will also feature a community room,
laundry facilities, and wellness center.
The Harden at Public Market will be a new senior living
community with 200 one- and two-bedroom units
that's adjacent to the historic Fort Worth Public Market
building in Fort Worth, Texas. The site will be connected
by a landscaped outdoor greenspace and courtyard
for residents.
