fi nalist midscale hotel public spaces Sheraton Madison Wisconsin More than 15 years ago, when Sheedy/De La Rosa Interiors fi rst launched, one of the fi rm's initial projects was the Sheraton Madison. This time around the design team refreshed the hotel's public spaces, adding a new grab-and-go market and club lounge, as well as a lobby bar that commands att ention. One of the design directives was to create a two-story space, and the fi rm responded by removing a portion of the mezzanine fl oor above and fi lling the void with a dramatic custom light fi xture. The front desk is another focal point. Once a monolithic unit, it now comprises sleek individual pods set against a unifying feature wall that melds a bicycle light sculpture and cycling photography-a nod to the popular Capital City State Trail neighboring the property.
