Happy 2023! Welcome to our fi rst issue of
the new year! It's our annual buyer's guide that is
chockfull of leading industry service providers. No
matt er what project you are working on, you can fi nd
the right resource in these pages.
The issue is also home to our annual hot list of the
year's most-anticipated hotel openings. From brand
debuts and new launches to historic renovations and
resorts that reimagine wellness, it's an impressive
group of properties-almost 50 from around
the globe-that off er a glimpse of the talent and
innovation that defi ne our industry.
The new year is a time to refl ect on many
things, and I had the opportunity to look back on four years-and 100 episodes!-of
our What I've Learned podcast. It's been an honor to be able to share the stories of so
many incredible leaders and innovators in hospitality and design. To celebrate, Alissa
Ponchione, our executive editor, and I did our own mini episode, where we highlight
some of our favorite moments from our fi rst podcast with Raul Leal, CEO of SH Hotels
& Resorts, to lessons learned from hotelier Ian Schrager, and the awe-inspiring work
ethic of Venus Williams. There were too many inspiring stories to recap them all, but it

A new year also means registration is now open for HD Expo + Conference, which
will head back to the Mandalay Bay Las Vegas on May 2nd-4th. We hope you will join us
