It's been a busy few months here at HD. Since
June, we have been back on the road, throwing our
regional CitySCENE networking events, celebrating
great design at our HD Awards gala in New York,
thinking outside the box at HD Summit and NextGen
Forum, and bringing together hundreds of new
products and speakers at HD Expo + Conference
in August (we recapped the event in our October
issue). One thing is clear: People are happy to be back
together again and excited to see what's new.
Which is why this issue comes at a perfect time.
Our third annual Product Marketplace is a showcase
of some of the industry's latest and greatest creations.
As executive editor Alissa Ponchione, who managed
this issue, says: " In these pages we've curated more
than 150 products, and that's only in our category
sections. We highlight must-have fi nds from the various trade fairs that staged this year
(or are about to), we look at biophilia's infl uence on design with playful fl oral patt erns, and
we gathered a selection of privacy screens created in response to our new reality. But what
makes these products stand out are the people behind them. We introduce you to six on-therise
designers who are taking creativity to a new level, fi ve members of the Black Artists +
Designers Guild helping to advance independent Black makers, and eight eclectic designers
in our profi le section who are ushering in an exciting new era. The product world is ever
expanding, and this is our comprehensive look at those that bring hospitality projects to life. "
For more inspiration, we hope to see you at our sister show BDNY at the Javits Center in
New York November 14-15th, which this year will co-locate with ICFF and WantedDesign
Manhatt an. Together, there will be more than 600 innovative manufacturers showcasing
their latest launches. It will be an event not to miss! HD will kick off the weekend on Friday,
November 12th with our Platinum Awards Gala at Cipriani 25 Broadway where we will
fête Larry Traxler of Hilton; Brad Wilson of Ace Hotel Group; Jennifer Johanson of EDG
Design; and Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu of Neri & Hu for their lifetime achievements. It's
