Oval Fire Products manufactures the only
NFPA-101 Life Safety Code & ADA low-profile
fire extinguishers that are oval rather than
round. A conventional 5 lb. or 10 lb. fire extinguisher protrudes more than 4ˇˇ when surface
mounted. As a result, an architect will specify
a recess cabinet or semi-recess cabinet where
wall depth is inadequate, resulting in cabinets
that protrude from the wall and are not uniform.
With an oval shape, fire extinguishers are less
than 4ˇˇ deep. They solve the problem of how to
install fire extinguishers in compliance with
requirements for accessibility by disabled persons, preserve building floor space, and reduce
total installed cost.
For behavioral health facilities, Oval offers the
only ligature-resistant surface-mounted solution. The low-profile cabinet has safe sloping
edges, solid lockable metal door, ligature-resistant hinges, and protrudes less than 4ˇˇ from the
mounted surface. This eliminates any need for
cutting into the walls of your facility providing a
quick, cost-efficient, and compliant solution.
Oval fire extinguishers can be either mounted
on a wall, column, or installed in a fire extinguisher cabinet. In either case, the installation
facilitates compliance with ADA, NFPA-101, and
CMS requirements. Oval fire extinguishers are
non-magnetic and certified as conditionally safe
for use in MRI facilities.

* This is the kind of product that demonstrates what design does - it takes a
fundamentally accepted idea and interrogates it, and in the process discovers that
the obvious thing that everyone has been doing all along may not be the only way
to do things.
* Excellent low-profile fire extinguishers that are ADA accessible when surface
mounted and don't require deep wall pockets when recessed. A very clever
solution to a decades old problem in healthcare design and construction.
* Why has this taken so long for something so obvious? Finally the " work-around "
has been solved for portable fire extinguishers. This can be utilized in all
buildings, not just healthcare, so the application is universal.
* Such a simple and brilliant innovation in changing the shape of a round cylinder
for multiple construction cost, space saving, and code compliance improvements.
It's the first time I've been this enthused about fire extinguisher design.
