HEALTHCARE DESIGN SHOWCASE OUTPATIENT/AMBULATORY CARE CENTER Orléans Health Hub Ottawa, Ontario, Canada SUBMITTED BY : HDR (KINGSTON, ONTARIO, CANADA) PROJECT CATEGORY: New construction CHIEF ADMINISTRATOR: Josette Roussel, director of integrated care and ambulatory programs, Hôpital Montfort FIRM: HDR, hdrinc.com DESIGN TEAM: HDR (architecture and design); EllisDon (construction); Cleland Jardine Engineering Ltd. (structural engineer); Smith + Anderson (mechanical and electrical); Vertechs Design (landscape architect) The Orléans Health Hub was born from the desire to create a future community-oriented place of care centered in health and sustained wellness within the province of Ontario. The result is an innovative first-of-its-kind prototypical delivery model for the province that brings together seven distinct and disparate healthcare and community organizations under one roof for a universally accessible and integrated " hub " of outpatient services and care. The relationships of both natural and human scales were explored, and the results of our discoveries became the catalyst for the formation of primary and secondary spaces in the facility. The Orléans Health Hub reconnects to a deeper relationship with the natural realm. This experience grounds the facility in an otherwise non-descript suburban region-fostering experiences rarely seen in healthcare facilities in this jurisdiction. 106 PHOTOGRAPHY: Courtesy of HDR ©2021 Richard Martin TOTAL BUILDING AREA (SQ.
