Danao furnishings are produced locally by craftsmen in Bali
and made with thoughtful materials like local, responsibly
sourced teak. This species of wood is especially celebrated in
Danao's S2 collection by designer Ann Marie Vering, who has
also noticed the evolution of homeowners wanting more and
more to mimic the way hotels have captured the art of creating
outdoor living spaces that mirror the comfort and luxury of
indoors. But if you ask Vering, she'll tell you her favorite
collection she's designed for Danao is Cuff, a powder-coated
aluminum line with a custom weave whose curvatures recall
the silhouette of a wrist bangle.
" Each product or project has its own story of inspiration.
Each time, the client deserves something unique and new, "
Vering says. " I look at furniture like it is jewelry: the
combination of materials, the intricate detailing, the patterns,
the textures. I want people to feel like they have a gem
when they take home a piece of my furniture. "
Adding another in-vogue layer to outdoor living environments,
architect and designer Daniel Germani, creative director of
Brown Jordan Outdoor Kitchens, Danver, and Trex Outdoor
Kitchens, embraced daring color choices for their latest
cabinetry introductions, taking cues from the fashion, art, and
design world. " Often, homeowners are more willing to take
a risk and make a bolder design choice for the outdoors than
they would for the indoors. And I love it, " he says. " Color
brings projects to life; it lights up a space and can add depth
or create an eye-catching moment. When proposing the new
2021 color introductions across our three brands, I selected
colors that would help designers and homeowners create
playful, bold spaces. " Such whimsical hues include chili red,
clementine orange, mint green, and cotton candy pink. Of
course, tried-and-true albeit sophisticated neutrals like muted
blues and greens that blend in with the landscape are still
highly sought after, as well.
And while the kitchen has long been considered the heart of
the home, the outdoor kitchen is quickly creating its own pulse
as outdoor entertaining and living spaces become must-have
" rooms, " as Germani puts it. Fully equipped outdoor kitchens
are giving homeowners the same level of functionality they
have indoors-from cooking appliances like grills, smokers,
pizza ovens, and burners to refrigeration and freezers to
countertops that are resistant to heat, cold, UV rays, abrasions,
and stains. " Thanks to advanced technology developed over
the past few decades, we can now help homeowners and
designers create outdoor spaces with the same ease of an
indoor space, " Germani says. " An extensive variety of door
styles, nested drawers, and trays allows them to design the
outdoor kitchen of their dreams. " Made with 100 percent
304-grade stainless steel, powder-coated finishes requiring little
to no maintenance (even finishes that look like wood grain),
magnetic closures, and tight-fitting rain gaskets, these outdoor
kitchens can ensure durability in the face of wind, snow, salty
coastal air, rain, and extreme heat, not to mention outdoor
critters. Throw in a fire pit or covered loggia, and they can meet
the demands of year-round use even in colder climates.

become the new living room
