appealing to an audience of fashion-forward Millennials. Meanwhile, a board depicting trendy, subtle logos on corporate wear and
smiling interactions may convince a company that its employees are
more comfortable when they don't have a giant logo emblazoned
on their chests, leading to successful results - even outside the
apparel department.
The idea is to get creative, look at the whole picture and compose
a mood board that best fits the client's direction while featuring
what's popular among his or her target audience.
Anytime my company has sent a mood board, the client has been
appreciative of the time and expertise embedded within the overall
presentation. Just the use of a trend mood board conveys that you
and your company are willing to put in extra effort to ensure each
project is a success.
Even if your customer hates the entire direction and trends you
have outlined, it saves you from wasting a ton of time on a project
that's headed down a path of wasted energy.
Clients may reply with their own mood boards to expand upon
the ideas you provide as an overall feel for an entire season with
more specific images or Pinterest suggestions they like for a particular project. Mood boards help keep clients informed on what's
trending and may let them escape from their own limiting tunnel
vision. If your clients don't know what's trending, they'll fall behind,
which means your company likely will do the same.
Mood boards can be used in marketing emails; suggestions for

clients; quick, direct email responses; and sales pitches. Posting
your own trending mood boards on Pinterest or similar platforms
may help attract more business that's already in tune with current
trends and looking for something new. Overall, mood boards are
an essential tool for anyone in the apparel industry looking to
successfully communicate trends to their clientele in a way that is
comprehensive, engaging and highly visual. 
