many years,I was the salesperson,draftsperson,IT department,accountant,
head of marketing and advertising and human resources department.This
is not uncommon but also not sustainable for growth. Once established,
think about what your biggest pain points are and how someone else may
help manage those tasks. Prior to hiring, consider in which direction your
business is moving. Will you stay a small kitchen studio or become a large
firm? And that business plan will act as your hiring guide.

8.	Branding is the buzzword synonymous with how your business is perceived.

Branding is a critical step in how you market and advertise yourself and
how clients will find you. Branding ensures your product or services are
unique and different from the competition. To determine your brand's
identity, think about the message you want to portray to the public. If you
are a high-end luxury kitchen company, make sure your website, advertising and social media feeds are consistent in selling that message. This
includes aligning yourself with vendors in the same high-end category.
9.	With branding comes marketing. Many small business owners don't believe
in or make time for marketing, and I respect that. However, there is no
better way to promote your new business, product or services than with
a targeted marketing strategy. It doesn't cost anything to upload consistent content to your Instagram or Facebook feed. Without marketing,
your business may offer the best products or services around, but no one
would ever know it. Word of mouth is the best marketing because it is
free and is coming from someone who is happy with your services. If you
want to expand your business or target a specific demographic, you can
explore digital or traditional advertising options. I advertise consistently
in a local magazine directed at our targeted audience, and that single

publication has led to more business than we
could have imagined.

10.	At Liz Walton Home, customer service is at the core
of everything we do. If we don't have an answer,

we will find it. A client needs to reschedule,
no problem. Delivery not running on time, we
will track it.We go above and beyond to ensure
our client has the best possible experience with
us - good, bad or ugly. No questions asked.
Several years ago, a client was not happy with
a purchase.We did the right thing, resolved the
issue so the client was satisfied and moved on.
Just recently that client called me for another
home project. Why? Our customer service,
honesty and integrity. The way you do anything is the way you do everything. Things
will not always go smoothly, but the way you
handle the situation and conduct yourself will
resonate with your clients and employees.

Starting your own business can be a most rewarding endeavor. Before you begin, ensure it's
what you are definitely cut out for, and then dig
deeper into your dedication to becoming certified,
providing excellent customer service, attracting
your ideal client and defining your brand. 

