epending on where you live, you - like me - are probably yearning for
warmer weather. Living in Atlanta has its ups and downs, and one
negative is the drastic change in temperature on a weekly, daily and
sometimes even hourly basis.
But you know where the weather is pretty much predictable allyear-long?
Orlando! While I was at the Kitchen & Bath Industry
Show (KBIS) this past February, I thoroughly enjoyed being warm almost
all the time and seeing so many things in real-time after a two-year hiatus.
And when I say " big " show in my headline, I mean that in a few ways.
First of all, the combined KBIS and International Builders' Show events that
make up Design & Construction Week® saw a whopping 70,000 visitors - a
number that defi nitely beat original attendance expectations.
But perhaps more importantly, KBIS was a " big " deal because people were
able to see new products and trends, listen to educational sessions and sit in
on industry discussions around today's most important topics - in person!
Everywhere I looked, there was this surprised but pleased look on everyone's
faces, and the feedback was immensely positive.
The trends I noticed at this year's show included innovative range
hoods - both in function and aesthetics - hands-free everything, pot
fi llers used in new ways, diff erent cabinet materials, mixing metals and
tech-y toilets EVERYWHERE. I truly enjoyed encountering some new
and innovative brands in this year's KBB Discovery District Tour, which
including heated fl ooring, Italian appliances, and yes, there was even a
really cool toilet on display.

We also hosted our annual Editorial Advisory
Board during KBIS, and this year's installment didn't
disappoint. We talked about solutions to supplychain
woes like going outside the box when choosing
brands, as well as managing customer expectations
by setting boundaries and communicating up front.
Wellness, technology and luxury are all popular
movements right now, and we are turning the
info we received during our meeting at KBIS into
important and timely magazine content.
It was amazing to see so many of you at KBIS
2022, and we can't wait to see you there next year
in Las Vegas from Jan. 31-Feb. 2, 2023!

