 Recycling & Reusing. Is it absolutely necessary to
replace all the appliances and plumbing fi xtures
when renovating a bathroom or kitchen? Not
at all, and reusing products that are still in good
shape saves your clients money, too. Th at and
specifying elements made with recycled materials
also saves our environment.
Making Smart Selections. Th ere is no excuse for
using products that weren't designed to save
energy and water. In years past, those off erings
may not have been as functional as they are
today, and there may have been price increases
associated with them. Th ese days, brands are
taking this seriously with new innovations, and
product specifi ers need to take heed as well.
IMPROVING CLIENT HEALTH AND HAPPINESS

here has been a lot of talk the last few years about mental well-being.
And like most of you, I have experienced various levels of anxiety and
depression during the pandemic. It is so important now and moving
forward to dedicate time to self-care; we could all use a break now and
then, that's for sure.
In addition to improving our mental well-being, the physical side
is important too, and this can be achieved in our homes - and those of your
clients. A lot of them may not know exactly what wellness in the home
actually means, so it is up to you as their design professionals to give them
the " skinny. "
Incorporating wellness into the home shouldn't be overwhelming or cause
anxiety - for you or your clients. Th ere are some simple things people are
wanting more of these days, and they may have no idea that most of their
desires focus on wellness.
 Bringing the Outside In. I know I have spent more time outside the last few
years, and I bet you and your clients have too. Because of this, we want
to bring outdoor elements into our homes, as well. Incorporating natural
light and fresh air with more windows and interior spaces that open to
the outdoors is crucial.
 Improving Air Quality. Sure, your clients love to cook with gas, but this
method can pollute the home. Electric and induction cooking appliances
are gaining traction, and this is a simple transition you can make during
your projects.

Creating Space Havens. Everyone is spending
more time at home and paying more attention
to exactly what they need out of their renovations
and new builds. Kitchens are getting bigger
to accommodate more friends and family,
as well as improved and customized storage options.
Clients want spa-like bathrooms, which
can be as simple as adding a showerhead or as
involved as creating a wet room where the bath
and tub live together.
Choosing Luxury for All Budgets. Opulence in
the home has been somewhat redefi ned. It can
still involve bigger budgets and higher-end selections,
but it can also be something as simple
as a few personalized choices. I myself would be
in a state of blissful luxury with heated fl oors in
the bathroom and a little extra pantry space in
my kitchen. You can create a luxury experience
for your clients at all budgets, and this theme
plays into wellness in the home as well.
