More homeowners are wanting the toilet to have its own private space
in the primary bath, with 35.8% of projects leaning this way. Edler says her
clients prefer a window in this space, if possible, and Helms says these spaces
do require more square footage to accommodate walls and a door swing.
GETTING SMARTER?
Our respondents reported that only 11.2% of their primary bath projects in
the last 12 months included smart/connected options, and it may depend
on how much a homeowner knows about these offerings.
" If a client is tech savvy, they are often drawn to the integration features
on the market, " said Helms. " These features do come with a price tag, so
they are usually a splurge and may not meet the budget requirements of
every project. And not every homeowner is on board with all these features,
citing concerns over connectivity issues and integration with other existing
home automation systems. "
Edler says she is seeing an uptick in smart toilets and bidets and that
thermostat controls for both room temperature and floor heat continue to
be the most popular features.
