Chapman has completed numerous installations over the last year, including for projects like the
Virgin Hotels New Orleans, Resorts World Las Vegas, the Marriott Pleasanton in California, and
the Four Seasons Haualalai. And though the company is seeing business operations trending back
toward pre-COVID times after lots of Zoom meetings and flex time in the office, it has also responded in numerous ways, including
helping designers ensure that switches, which get touched often, are easy to spray and wipe with minimal crevices. It also tests its
finishes to make sure they are not adversely affected by common disinfectants and cleaning solutions.
In terms of sustainability, Chapman is working with its factory in China to monitor variables including power usage and recycling
of materials used in the manufacturing process. It is also utilizing renewable resources in its products, such as bamboo skin (shown in
photo) and dried rattan.
Also important to the company is its support of NEWH, which provides invaluable camaraderie, support, and networking. " We love
supporting the students who are the future of our industry, " adds Rosanne Regent, Chapman's vice president of hospitality.
As traveling increases, Down Etc will continue to provide products that allow its
customers to meet the needs of travelers focused on cleanliness. Meanwhile, it will
continue to promote new and existing ideas for sustainability. Down Etc has developed
the Eco Plush Bed Pillow, which is made from recycled plastic bottles. This reduces the amount of plastic bottles thrown into landfills
and turns them into breathable and soft pillows that have been sustainably made and Oeko-Tex certified. It is also working with its
factory to create eco-friendly reusable bags made from rPET recycled plastic bottles.
During the pandemic, Down Etc used its factory to design and manufacture face masks and headbands with buttons to hold
the face mask elastic. Mask Etc face masks utilized copper modified polyester and cotton to maximize comfort and protection.
Headbands Etc are made with stretchy nylon and spandex to provide a comfortable way to wear a mask for an extended period.
Down Etc appreciates the way in which NEWH and its members invest their energy in the next generation of designers and
innovators with scholarships and collaboration. The most exciting things happen when there is a continually growing circle of
teaching and learning.
Fabric Innovations has recently launched its newest collections, Shine and Miami Beach, in addition to
introducing Chemistry upholstery with Alta (shown), one of a variety of collections offering the antimicrobial
defense. The biggest challenge to company operations has been to remain nimble over these last months,
explains Deborah Herman, Fabric Innovations' founder and president. " We are able to adapt to the quagmire
of challenges with transportation, remote-working clients, new products becoming available with the new
challenges to the hotel environment, and to care and promote the wellbeing of our employees and clients. "
Herman adds: " NEWH remains the premier networking organization in the industry. It also allows our
company to help alleviate the overwhelming debt our young people are incurring in college loans. We feel this
is one of the most significant issues in our country, and we must invest in the future of our industry. "
Fil Doux has been busy over the past year, introducing six new collections: Alto and Icon for upholstery, and Brussels,
Chalet, and Charisma in Otratex (its proprietary biodegradable for hospitality and cruise). It also added five new patterns
for its Box Socks box spring covers. It produces its Coppershield product-a medicinal-grade of copper that acts as a
natural antimicrobial-in its own mills in Chile and Brazil, and during COVID was working with PPE fabrics for frontline
hospital workers.
One of the best things that happened during 2020 was the company's achieving Leader status with Mindclick. It is
known as a sustainable company, but the ability to show clients the actual results is very important.
As far as its commitment to NEWH, " We've always been big believers in education, and supporters of giving back
to the communities around us, " says Robert Pullen, Fil Doux's vice president of hospitality and cruise. " NEWH encapsulates all of this into a base
that fits perfectly into the beliefs of Fil Doux, and we're so happy to be here this year. "
Lily Jack is excited to announce its newest line, the West Coast collection (shown). Inspired by the Pacific coastline, the
modern collection with midcentury flair officially launches at this year's HD Expo in Las Vegas. Additionally, it recently
completed two of the largest projects in the company's history, providing over 22,000 pieces of luxury furniture for
guestrooms, suites, and public areas at the new Virgin Hotels and Resorts World in Las Vegas.
In 2020, Lily Jack's No. 1 company goal was to develop a sustainability initiative. It assembled an internal team
to create a plan and gather all the necessary data to understand its baseline across several metrics and is currently in
discussions with sustainability consultants regarding which of the many different certifications would be best to pursue.
One of Lily Jack's core values is pursuing relationships built on trust. NEWH fosters an environment conducive to building healthy
