A MESSAGE FROM THE NEWH, INC. PRESIDENT

ith strength from all, we are seeing the light on the other side of one of the biggest challenges we
have faced together. For many of us, working remotely during this time has changed so many office
spaces with the potential for hybrid in-person and in-office work a reality. But the world is rebounding,
and the hospitality industry is moving full speed ahead as we make up for the down time. Our members are
sharing upswings in hiring staff, bidding jobs, and project awards. (All music to our ears.) While we are also
experiencing challenges affecting almost all supply activity and changes to what was typical in
terms of costs, materials, and shipping lead times, the hospitality market does forecast a large
increase in " bleisure " travel-a blend of business and leisure trips for those of us looking to break
out of our confines. All are a great boost to continued growth in our industry.
NEWH continues to offer relevant content in our NEWH NOW weekly series of events with
content from our members and sponsors offering insight from their perspective and regions.
NEWH members in all of our chapters and regional groups have made us very proud with the
ways they have adapted to provide engaging events for our members. Check out the Events page
at newh.org to see various chapters' offerings coming up-many of which are open to members of
all chapters -as well as some highlighted past events.
We are looking forward to live events and in-person tradeshows, with HD Expo coming up in
August in Las Vegas-our first event out of the gate. This will be followed by two NEWH Regional
Tradeshows: Bethesda, Maryland on August 31st, and Houston on October 5th. In addition, our
next International Board meeting will be held November 13th in New York in conjunction with BDNY, taking place
November 14th and 15th. We are also planning six NEWH Regional Tradeshows in 2022, where we anticipate full
capacity. We do hope to see you at one or more of these events in person!
The NEWH Leadership Conference Committee is working hard to finalize speakers and seminars for our upcoming
NEWH Leadership Conference, February 17-19th, 2022 at the Westin Seattle. I encourage you to engage and
promote attendance within your chapter or regional group and to share with your members what NEWH is all
about: great learning opportunities, relationship building, and helping our members get back to full speed.
We would like to thank each of you for your commitment to NEWH. It's times like these that we realize how
important it is to be a part of something positive. Your efforts and contributions to creating uplifting events for
your chapter or regional group are key to sustaining our mental health. Together we will build upon your work as
we pivot to both live and virtual offerings to sustain the health of our industry as well.
