Meet the 2021 Green Voice Design
Competition Winners
This year's competition required students to design a resort or spa with a sustainable guest
experience. In addition to scholarship award money, the winning students are provided with
travel and lodging in New York for BDNY in November.
2021 NEWH Green Voice Design Competition undergraduate $7,500 scholarship

Isaac Wood
Appalachian State University
Interior Design
Winning Concept: The Breezeway at Phu Kradueng
Isaac Wood is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in interior design with a minor in building science at
Appalachian State University, in Boone, North Carolina. He is currently at a junior level and is a student
member of both ASID and IIDA. He is the faculty appointed Junior Ambassador Leader for the interior
design program within the Department of Fine and Applied Arts at Appalachian State and was previously
a sophomore ambassador. Isaac enjoys working with fellow students and faculty; he was a teacher's assistant for Interior Design Studio
I in spring of 2019, and, most recently, journeyed through an independent study in Enscape, offering tutorials and help to fellow students
using the software. He has a passion for sustainable
and environmentally friendly design, which is shown
in much of his work-these principles also have an
influence in his personal life. After graduation, he plans
to pursue his NCIDQ certification as well as become a
LEED and a WELL AP. He plans to work in the field for a
few years before pursuing a master's degree in interior
architecture. In his free time, Isaac is an avid hiker
and outdoor enthusiast, taking full advantage of the
gorgeous Blueridge Parkway.
" Winning this scholarship and competition shows that
my passion, dedication, and hard work pay off. I poured
many months and sleepless nights into this project and I
am ecstatic to see it recognized by such an amazing and
diverse organization. More than anything, I am happy
to see that I am growing as a designer. I will continue to
push my conceptual development, design skillset, and
architectural knowledge further by continuing to work
hard with a passion for design and hospitality. "
