Project: InsideOut Resort/Spa Hotel, Malibu, California
Magic Comes from Inside Out
The hotel is located in a natural area with impressive landscapes. The site is within walking distance
from the Pacific Coast Highway and the ocean at Point Dume State Beach. The hotel complex is built
on the site of an existing local hotel, and the site is created with the focus on privacy for the guests.
Therefore, the territory is divided into the public recreation building-with the restaurant, cafes, library,
and fitness and other public spaces-and guestrooms with safe private access from the outside.
Design Intent Narrative:
InsideOut Resort/Spa Hotel off ers a highly sustainable, innovative, touchfree,
and natural/healthy experiences to its guests. The main focuses are:
· Connection with Nature
· Safety
· Healthy and Natural Practices
· Organic Architecture
· Bio design
Mission - Technology leads to freedom, nature gives us beauty. Our
mission is to respect and combine both to create magic for the benefit of
our guests!
Vision - We are led by nature, its intelligence and order, supported
by artificial intelligence and the latest technologies to create the new
environmental reality for the better and sustainable living on our planet.
We are here to use our planet resources very carefully and intelligently.
Concept - A combination of nature and technology for the prosperity
of people and planet. Architecture is not walls, ceilings, doors, and
windows. It is the arrangement of the air, light, water, energy, movement
to support natural biorhythms, safe interactions, synergy, and to continue
exterior into interior, outside into the inside. People are tired of being in
the industrial environments and want to return to nature while staying
safe. Hotel InsideOut is about deep connection that goes from inside
outside-from people to nature and vice versa.
Anti covid Policy - To separate spaces and to make them mostly outdoor
or open to the outdoors, and to make separated and safe circulation and
interaction. Touch-free technologies come from the general automated
hotel's smart system.
Color Scheme - Natural, calm, relaxing tones are used according to
the color theory that influences humans' senses and mental health
and based on beach colors in the sunny morning daylight that are the
healthiest for human beings.
The building is designed in accordance with LEED and WELL
standards:
· Precise research of local market/community
· Green environment: mountains, ocean, plants
·
· Reduced noise pollution
·
Safeguarding of the land and protection the wildlife habitat, as the
hotel is in an area with existing infrastructure
Guestrooms are oriented on the east to follow the natural circadian
rhythms
· Bus station right in front of the hotel
· Bicycle roads and parking
· Bicycle storage and bicycle tours
· Walking or bicycle ride distance to natural places that will
encourage daily physical activity
·
The interior extends from the outside to the inside, which
corresponds to the concept of combining the internal and the
external, like it happens in nature
