What have you found to be most valuable about your NEWH involvement, both personally
and professionally?
When I arrived in Canada seven years ago I knew no one. I had established myself in Europe and had
done projects all around Europe and the Middle East but here in North America I had no connections
whatsoever. NEWH gave me my new network of people on the other side of the ocean. Through NEWH
I found the people I could depend on to bring my projects to life. And, as it happens every so often with
people one works with, a lot of my connections are now dear friends too.
What would people be interested to know about your company?
We work on both residential and hospitality projects, and we have projects in both North America and
Europe.

Where do you find inspiration, both inside and outside the industry?
Through both traveling and exploring new building materials. I keep a record of all materials that have
provoked my curiosity throughout the years and when the opportunity arises they play an instrumental
role in the design concept of a project.
Why do you recommend people get involved with NEWH?
From a designer's perspective, NEWH gives you a platform of material sourcing that is fantastic.
You don't research materials blindly; you actually contact people that you've met in-person at an
NEWH event and they go out of their way to source what you need and help you bring a project into
completion. I see NEWH as an extension of my " work " family. Of course there are so many other
reasons. The scholarship funding that so many students get and is life changing, the NEWH Leadership
Conference which happens every two years and is all about your inner self growth, connecting with other
colleagues-I can go on all day!
What is your proudest recent NEWH accomplishment?
It's not an accomplishment quite yet but my goal is to lure in as many interior design students as possible,
and, in the long run change the demographics of our chapter. I want to show design students the value
of NEWH while they are still in school. If we can engage students now and help them transition to the
working industry, they will become invaluable NEWH members. We've started portfolio review sessions
with one design school already and set up sessions with another two. Our aim is to eventually run these
series annually. Also this year our TopID Awards event will be combined with our scholarship awards event
so, fingers crossed, in 2022 we'll have an even larger draw of students than what we had last year.
