FIRST WORDS
It's Time to Show Up
WE'RE NOT AN INDUSTRY THAT SITS ON THE
sidelines. We show up. We're leaders and entrepreneurs,
and we're inspiring others to fi nd
the same joy in the outdoors that we do. We're
changemakers. We fi ght for justice, take action
on climate, and advocate for public lands.
Every day, the outdoor community is working
to grow and make an impact. But we're
only successful with a little help from our
friends. This industry is collaborative, and as
much as we've learned to work independently,
we cannot lose our focus on the need to show
up for each other.
Outdoor Retailer this August will be an
opportunity to support the community and
have the conversations that move our industry
forward. This will be the fi rst chance for
the whole industry to come together, reassess
where we are, and make plans for the future.
Who's planning to show up? Brands ready
to be seen include The North Face, Liberty
Mountain, LOWA, Osprey Packs, Pendleton,
and Wolverine, with more exciting conversations
underway; see the growing list of exhibitors
here. They're coming to support specialty
retailers, make new connections, and
CONTRIBUTORS
infl uence buying power.
Retailers are ready too. Nearly 3,000 buyers
are registered so far, representing Academy
Sports + Outdoors, Backcountry.com, Bass Pro
Shops, Dick's Sporting Goods, Duluth Trading
Company, Gear Coop, and more; fi nd the latest
list here. With stores fully open, these buyers
are anxious to keep inventory fi lled all year, and
they are looking for new products.
As businesses continue to evolve, we know
showing up might look a little different for
everyone this summer. That's OK. You're on
the road to recovery from the impacts of the
pandemic.
Now is a good time to stay connected, get
back on track, and build new or rebuild relationships.
