Argentina's newest ski resort, El Azufre,
will be carbon neutral.
" Wealth is isolated into few people and few
companies, " Lebewitz says. " The Marketplace
is an attempt to redistribute wealth and fight
for economic freedom. " In part, by making
it easier for people who would prefer to support
smaller or people of color-owned businesses.
Bigger outdoor brands and stores
aren't doing this. " These stores have a lot of
resources and are very well connected, but
climbers who might want to support people
of color-owned businesses cannot find Black
and Brown brands in their stores. But if you
go to affinity shopping platforms, they might
not have outdoor stuff. "
The Marketplace will also be a way to
help make BGC sustainable. The collective
of women behind BGC have poured thousands
of hours of unpaid time and energy into
building their community. In June, BGC will
launch a crowdfunding campaign to support
the expansion of The Marketplace (it's available
now with select partners; the expanded
website will include more partners and enhanced
search functions). Most of the funds
raised will go toward creating paid positions.
This is what BGC has always been about-the
end of isolation, the creation of abundance.

This season, Argentina's El Azufre, which is
being built as the world's first carbon-neutral
ski area, will host the first skiers on its snowy
slopes. Located on the Chilean border in
the northern Andes, South America's woke
mountain town will tuck into 30,000 acres of
previously overgrazed land with exceptional
snowfall, natural hot springs, and solitude.

Garmin enters powersports with category-specific navigation and communication tools.
Navigation brand Garmin has a new suite of powersports-focused devices that bring the company's
GPS and satellite capabilities to side-by-side, ATV, and snowmobiling. The Garmin Tread is a ruggedized
navigation dashboard with a group-ride radio feature that displays your route and where you and
other vehicles in your party are, and it lets you talk with up to 20 other riders in their own vehicles, even
when out of cell range. Powerswitch is a digital switch box that
installs under the hood so you can use the Tread as the command
center for 12v devices like air compressors and differential
locks. BC 40, a wireless tube-mounted backup camera,
displays the perimeter of the vehicle and its surroundings on
Tread's screen.
The weather-resistant Tread comes with preloaded topo
and street maps, U.S. Forest Service roads and campgrounds,
public land boundaries, and GPS, with multiple
views. Drivers can sync waypoints, import, and export
GPX files, and access live weather when Tread is paired to
Garmin's app. The company does not plan to sync Tread with
third-party apps other than iOverlander, which drivers can

With up to 5,200 feet of vertical and reliable
snowfall, El Azufre will be a four-season
resort fully powered by renewable energy
year-round. Eventually, six chairlifts and eight
surface lifts will take skiers up the mountain.
Forty groomed trails, plus hotels, lodges,
townhomes, and apartments, all built to be
eco-friendly and in tune with the environment,
are also in the master plan. COVID-19
