According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2019 there were 2,580 cases of nonfatal illnesses or injuries related to driver/sales workers in the private accommodation and food services industry, up from 2,380 in 2018. (The BLS does not break out pizza delivery drivers as a category.) Pizzeria owners say they have systems in place to protect drivers from the risks of car wrecks and getting robbed.
