Carrier Sells Chubb Fire &

▶ PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Carrier
Global Corp. agreed to sell its Chubb fire
and security business to APi Group Corp.
for an enterprise value of $3.1 billion. Carrier's
global fire and security products business
is not part of the transaction.
The sale is said to enable Carrier to
focus on its core businesses and to reallocate
net proceeds consistent with its
stated capital allocation priorities, including
funding organic and inorganic growth,

from prospective buyers, which included
private equity firms Apax Partners, PAI
Partners and Eurazeo SE, came in below
UTC's expectations.
UTC acquired Chubb for $1 billion in
2003. In 2019, UTC announced it would
start winding down its Interlogix business
in a move that blindsided the company's
reps and customers.
The proposed sale to APi Group Corp. is
subject to a consultation process and regulatory
approvals. It is expected to close in
late Q4 2021 or early Q1 2022.
GSX was last held as an onsite event
in Chicago in 2019.
All-Access Pass registrants can earn

ONVIF Unveils Profile D for
Access Control Peripherals
▶ SAN RAMON, Calif. - ONVIF has released
a new profile that addresses interfaces
for access control peripheral devices,
providing the market with an additional
tool for building secure IP-based integrated
video and access control systems using
the standard.
Profile D is designed to provide ONVIF
interoperability for peripheral devices such
as locks, credential/biometric readers, PIN
pads, license plate recognition cameras,
door phones, sensors and displays. These
types of peripherals commonly require
specific integrations between products
from different vendors to be able to incorporate
them into an access control management
platform, according to ONVIF.
" Users are increasingly looking to incorporate
additional technologies into their
access control systems for use in innovative
ways, such as bar-code reading cameras
for visitor management or video door
stations for intercom applications, " says
Patrik Björling, chair of the ONVIF Profile
D Working Group. " Profile D provides a
standardized way to satisfy this demand
for interoperability, which can in turn drive
additional opportunities for more use cases
for peripheral devices. "
Profile D complements Profile A and
Profile C in enabling standardized communications
in an IP-based electronic access
control system. Profile D devices can also
support video profiles such as Profile T
and Profile M to enable an integrated video
and access control system using ONVIF
interfaces.
