A 2017 survey conducted by Aldermore* revealed that 39 per cent of entrepreneurs in the UK feel lonely. By taking part in some social and team-based volunteer work, the "love hormone" oxytocin is triggered, followed by an increase in feelings of optimism, self-esteem and trust. The sense of achievement gained from volunteer work also triggers a significant increase in dopamine, which can lead to an altruism-based "helper's high". Try... Volunteering at your local animal rescue centre as spending time with animals is widely recognised as a way to increase dopamine and oxytocin levels. This incredibly rewarding opportunity can make a huge difference to your mindset as well as the furry friends.
