CA R E " Keeping residents happy and engaged is so important " Kay Gibb is a carer at Edwardstow Care Home in Cheltenham " I'd always worked in sales before but I really wanted to do something worthwhile where I could help people, so I joined The Orders of St John Care Trust in July of this year. " I am a carer and work directly with residents to support them in any way I can. Sometimes that involves helping them to wash and dress or to eat and drink, supporting them to go about their daily activities and knowing what I can do to help them and make them smile. " It has been really busy during the pandemic and I am learning a lot of new routines very quickly while also making sure I respond to all the residents' needs. It is certainly the hardest job I have done - both mentally and physically - but I'm really enjoying it. " The interaction with the residents is so rewarding and I really enjoy singing with the them and sharing stories about their families. Keeping them happy and engaged is just so important.
