If you enjoy meeting people, then you

never a dull moment - and the view from
your seat constantly changes.
Your role is to get customers safely
from A to B, and enhance their journey.
Once trained, you'll have a PCV
(People Carrying Vehicle) licence.
Benefits often include a pension,

To apply, you will need to be calm
and collected, even under pressure,
and have a full driving licence with

You'll be a part of the development
of signal schemes as you focus mainly on
modelling, simulation, design, audits
and network impact assessment, which
will involve researching and designing

in traffic modelling and transport
planning, and proven practical

and TRANSYT, as well as microsimulation or 3D tools. Well-developed
data analysis skills will be key, and you'll
be as much of a doer as a thinker.

Salary: Around £30,000 to start,
rising with experience.

Transport Co-ordinator
Can you think on your feet and react
quickly to transport-related problems?
If so, this career could suit you.
You'll need good management and
organisation skills, as you can be
responsible for managing a large
fleet of vehicles and Drivers.
You'll need to be up-to-date with
driver regulations, and it will be up
to you and the rest of the team to
minimise tachograph and workingtime directive infringements.
Salary: £25-£35,000 on average.

Transport Planner
The key role in this job is to improve
transport systems or find how new
systems can be implemented in certain
areas. A Transport Planner will consider
issues such as climate change, the
economy and the environment, and work
is often related to government policies
and initiatives, such as trying to change
people's travel behaviour by encouraging
them to reduce their car use and take up
walking, cycling or public transport.
A Transport Planner will work on plans,
policies and projects relating to all kinds
