M ore than half of all workplaces are missing out because they're excluding disabled talent. In a time when the national employment rate is at a record high of 75.6%, employers are increasingly looking to differentiate their offer in order to attract and retain employees with the skills they need. The story for disabled people is very different. The current employment rate for this group is much lower than the general population, at just 52.6%. Employers can be fearful of employing a disabled person because there is often a perception that doing so requires extra resources, expense and disruptive changes to working practices. Often this is simply not the case and the benefits to businesses can be significant.
