Here she explains how she ended up working in a traditionally male-dominated field and the opportunities it offers for everyone. What did you do before joining FCC Environment? Despite only working short hours after school at the jewellery store, it helped me to realise I was capable of "There has never been a dull moment!" so much more. I always knew I needed a hands-on job that would keep me on my toes and challenge me to achieve more. I saw the advertisement for the apprenticeship on the government website and it appealed to me - so I applied! What on-the-job training have you been offered? I've obtained my forklift, crane and front-loading shovel licences, which were extremely fun to complete and have helped me become an asset to the team. Throughout my two years at FCC, I've also have been enrolled in many training courses that expand my knowledge in health and safety as well JC Spring 2020 FCC Environment F.indd 254 18/05/2020 16:58
