ITP Aero Delivers First UltraFan Intermediate
Pressure Turbine to Rolls-Royce
ITP Aero delivered the first Rolls-Royce UltraFan intermediate pressure turbine
(IPT) from its assembly facility in Madrid. The IPT will be assembled on
the demonstration engine at Rolls-Royce's Derby facilities. Once complete, the
engine will be tested at the new engine test facility, Testbed80, in Derby. The first
run will be on 100 percent sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The new generation
engine will be 25 percent more fuel efficient than the original Trent 700 and is a
key element of the ITP Aero sustainability strategy as part of its commitment to
continue to improve gas turbine performance. UltraFan can be scaled to create a
family of engines capable of powering either narrow-body or wide-body aircraft.
UltraFan features a new architecture and lightweight composite materials and
a powerful aerospace gearbox. The UltraFan demonstrator will be the world's
largest engine with a fan diameter of 140 inches, according to ITP Aero. Erlantz
Cristobal, executive director of technology and engineering at ITP Aero, commented,
" We strongly believe UltraFan will play a key role in making aviation
an increasingly sustainable industry in the next decades, in line with our commitment
to lead the way in the transition to a net zero world. "

Boeing Reaches Record
$2 Billion in E-Commerce Sales
Boeing achieved an annual record for e-commerce
parts sales last year with more than $2 billion in
online orders. Fueled by investment in digital tools,
Boeing Distribution Inc. (formerly Aviall) sold nearly
70,000 parts products through its e-commerce site
to commercial and government customers, eclipsing
pre-pandemic levels. Commercial orders accounted
for $1.5 billion in sales, reflecting the continued recovery
in the airline industry.
" Our $2 billion closeout
to 2021 was a great capstone as the market heads to
a more stable recovery, " said Ted Colbert, president
and chief executive officer, Boeing Global Services.
" Our e-commerce capabilities are a great example of
the digital solutions we provide to enable industry
recovery and growth. " Boeing Distribution's online
revenue last year was 15 percent higher compared
to pre-pandemic levels, while orders were 20 percent
higher. Stronger sales came as the company rolled out
new tools to improve customer experience, including
a new homepage, a live chat and a knowledge center.
The refreshed e-commerce parts website, which
features over 500,000 products, saw 5 million visits.

AeroMobil Announces the World's
First 4-Seater Flying Car
AeroMobil announces the second model of its revolutionary
flying car, the 4-seater AM NEXT. AM
NEXT leverages the groundbreaking engineering

a new species of vehicle that will start deliveries in
2024. The primary business model for AM NEXT,
launching in 2027, is a fleet aerial ride-hailing service.
AM NEXT will provide significant time savings on
regional routes in the 100-500 mile range, which are
too far to drive and too short, or inconvenient, to fly.
AM NEXT will provide no-hassle travel: door-to-door
single-seat convenience and comfort, to work, rest,
play or just enjoy the view.
