Long Beach Transit approves zero-emission order for New Flyer
▶ Long Beach Transit (LBT) has ordered 20 next-generation battery-electric 35-foot
Xcelsior CHARGE NG™ heavy-duty transit buses from New Flyer of America Inc. (New
Flyer) under a three-year contract. LBT plans to lower its environmental impact over
the next 10 years by converting its fleet to 100 percent alternative fuels by the end of
2021, and to zero emissions within the next decade.

Ecolane releases Evolution
Ecolane released its new platform,
Evolution, on June 1, 2021, that
enables transit companies to manage,
monitor and assess system and employee
performance in real time. Ecolane
says the purpose in updating the user interface
(UI) to Evolution is to update the
legacy software that Ecolane customers
use when scheduling and dispatching.
The improved UI functionality will mean
agencies have more control over what
users can access, allowing each agency
to customize for their operations.

30-year anniversary
▶ Tolar Manufacturing Company is celebrating
30 years of connecting communities
through the design and fabrication
Metro Transit LRVs retrofitted
with Wi-Tronix IoT platform
▶ Metro Transit in Minnesota has retrofitted
its Bombardier light-rail vehicles with
the Wi-Tronix Violet Edge IoT platform
and Connected Diagnostics System,
including Train Operator Display (TOD).
With the new system, Metro Transit will
improve fleet availability by replacing an
obsolete Monitoring Diagnostic System.
Each vehicle on the fleet has two
modern TODs installed that provide a
real-time view of pertinent information
to the operator on the train concerning
conditions that affect the immediate
operation of the train. In addition, the
TOD provides maintenance personnel
detailed diagnostic insights to rapidly
troubleshoot and repair the vehicle in the
maintenance facility.

TheRide
MV TRANSPORTATION was awarded
a contract to operate paratransit
services for TheRide.
TheRide selects MV Transportation
for paratransit contract
▶ The Ann Arbor Transportation Authority
(TheRide) awarded MV Transportation,
Inc., a five-year contract to provide paratransit
services. The contract went into
effect Aug. 1, 2021. MV will provide safe
and reliable origin-to-destination, curbto-curb
and door-to-door ADA paratransit
transportation for the Ann Arbor
and Ypsilanti communities. The company
will be responsible for safety, operations,
maintenance and dispatch within the
A-Ride paratransit service system for
people with disabilities and the elderly.
