Michael Banoub, PE, has not only led
and managed several complex and high-profile
mass transit projects in the New York metropolitan
area, he has also created opportunities
for young professionals to further develop
their knowledge of the transit industry.
I take great pride in knowing the
projects I work on are helping to
make our transportation stronger,
faster and open to more people. "
Michael C.
Banoub, PE
Project Manager
HNTB
Banoub's first assignment on Access to the
Region's Core, a design project to expand
commuter rail access between New York City
and New Jersey, helped develop his passion
for transit infrastructure projects. He has
worked on several resiliency projects for New
York City Transit and New Jersey Transit. And
he had managed high-profile projects including
the Port Authority of New York & New
Jersey's PATH's Hoboken Station resiliency
and a PATH project to replace flood-damaged
interlockings, track and signal infrastructure
along the Newark to World Trade Center PATH
line. As PATH service operates under Positive
Train Control (PTC) control, Banoub advanced
coordination to address necessary revisions
to the PTC system during construction and
was PTC-compliant following construction.
Following Banoub's projects at PATH, he took
on a leadership role on a design-build project
at New York's Penn Station, the busiest
railroad station in North America. Banoub
served as package manager for four design
packages associated with the Long Island Rail
Road's East End Gateway and LIRR Concourse
- Phase II. He managed a multi-disciplinary
team of engineers to deliver all design
packages under an expedited schedule.
Banoub's passion for advancing passenger rail
projects is matched by his dedication to the
development of young professionals. He led
HNTB's Summer Intern Program in New York
and served in various leadership roles with the
Young Professionals in Transportation - New
York where he created opportunities for young
professionals in various transportation-related
fields to come together to learn from each
other and build relationships across disciplines
and the public/private sectors. He is a member
of the Metropolitan Railway Club of New
York City and an alum of the Eno Center for
Transportation's Mid-Manager Seminar in 2018.
Fast Fact: Banoub led a team to compete
in CANstruction, a design/construction
challenge to create structures out of food cans,
which are donated to local food banks.

Teri Marsh's 14-year career has been
wholly dedicated to transit, a pursuit she
describes as " an immutable passion. " Her project
experience encompasses design, program
management and construction management
of light rail and streetcar projects, from conceptual
engineering through construction.
I am proud of expanding my
skillset beyond technical
work into value engineering,
to support my clients'
programs in a focused way. "
Teri M.
Marsh, PE, VMA
Rail/Transit Project
Manager
HNTB
Her areas of engineering expertise are rail
design, systems design and integration and
utilities engineering. Marsh also emphasizes
value engineering, program controls,
sustainability and design criteria development
in her work. Together, these areas
of practice speak to her desire to understand
all aspects of capital projects to best
deliver for her clients and community.
Marsh ensures projects she leads serve the
community, providing options that align with
transportation needs and benefit underserved
populations. By understanding how patrons
will engage with the service provided by
each capital project, she ensures that each
one goes beyond infrastructure-building
and is designed to fit into its community.
As a certified Value Methodology Associate,
Marsh is working toward further certification in
value engineering facilitation. She believes the
investment of public transit funds should provide
the best value and she approaches value
engineering through this lens. Rather than

viewing it as simply a cost-savings exercise,
Marsh uses a structured value engineering
process to define the purpose and goals of a
project which, when combined with cost-savings
ideas, increases the project's value.
Marsh is a 2016 graduate of APTA's Emerging
Leaders Program, serves as secretary
on the executive board for the Women's
Transportation Seminar Puget Sound Chapter
and is co-chair of HNTB's Bellevue, Wash.,
office Participate Committee, which encourages
colleagues to get involved in the community
through volunteering, professional organizations,
lunch-and-learns and other activities.
She also served as the inaugural co-chair of
HNTB's Bellevue office mentoring program
and served as a mentor and coordinator of
HNTB SPARK LA after-school program.
Fast Fact: Marsh presented on the subject
of value engineering at the 2017 APTA Rail
conference.
