message board Need Advice on Tooth That Blew Up A Townie asks for help after she opens a patient tooth and discovers it's on its way to becoming necrotic Hi, Townies. Please help me decide how to fi x this situation. I am not a new grad, but so far have never had a tooth that I opened blow up and result in swelling. I opened #21 (left lateral incisor) last week because it was very percussion-sensitive and very cold-sensitive. It was still vital but did not bleed much during instrumentation, so it was on its way to becoming necrotic. I instrumented to WL with a 35/04 sequence file and placed CaOH paste, cotton and unbonded composite for my temporary. I did not finish as they do not have any more insurance until January. She came in with a swollen lip and vestibule two days ago and there is now a lesion on the PA. I gave her amoxicillin and reappointed her to instrument the tooth again in two days. Any advice on what to do next? And how to best place my CaOH paste? It obviously did not go very far down the canal on the PA.
