In years past, many of us carried on as usual if we were sick. Now, I expect any cough, cold,
etc., is going to keep people home, and home longer. I think we will have a slow fall/winter
because of that. The frustrating thing is ... with all of our precautions, shouldn't we be getting
fewer colds? ■

Maybe anecdotal and just seasonal, but we were busy for about two to three months after
opening. Daily, we are seeing more open slots in every schedule from hygiene to doctor. Hygiene
no-shows are up a bit more. FD has been hearing more calls to reschedule for next year. Cause,
exactly? Who knows.
It could just be me being hypersensitive to things at the moment, but it sure feels like things
aren't exactly booming to point of the backlog of patients in early summer. ■

Don't anticipate any changes from where we are now. I am in Florida, though, and this is
very state-dependent. I am not planning to shut down again since I have a stockpile of N95
masks now. But I have set aside extra cash in case things slow down. ■

Even the WHO now says shutdowns are counterproductive. We will not be shutting down,
with the caveat that political winds may be a-changing. While known cases have been increasing, deaths are not. October is a much better time to get
COVID compared to six months ago. Our MDs have
things pretty dialed in, relatively.
Our health care system has proven to be a rock.
That was the reason for the first shutdown. It never got
overwhelmed anywhere. It's life as usual, with added
precautions. ■

Keep in mind, October and
FeastervilleDental

April and May when most of us
were shut down, so obviously hygiene will be light. We
have been aware and are planning to be lighter than usual
and maybe even take a few days off. That being said, a
few patients have cancelled for stomach virus or sniffles
and with an abundance of caution, we are pushing their
reappointments out two weeks. ■
