SPECIAL SECTION wtpop OK, here is the latest: A nurse called me about 10 days ago and left a message saying they cannot still open the scan. She did say that the doctor thought it was a ranula. Now the swelling in the fl oor of the mouth is gone and patient does not have pain anymore. I left the message saying it could be something more serious. Today, mom told me they are going to the children's hospital in downtown Chicago on Monday for a new CT. I'll let you know the result. ■ 1/29/2020 wtpop I haven't seen the patient since that fi rst time. I was told that the patient was referred to endo for RCT, but the patient did not show up for the appointment. ■ 7/22/2021 Member Since: 02/16/05 Post: 32 of 33 Member Since: 02/16/05 Post: 25 of 33 Oral Cancer Case This Townie shares an oral cancer case that was sadly misdiagnosed mmm888 This patient was referred from the local medical offi ce. The comments from the physician or PA were that the patient has " a mouth infection, cellulitis. " They prescribed him a round of antibiotic, which unsurprisingly did nothing. He had chief complaints of eroding gums, denture not fi tting, pain under eye and bloody nose. Anyway, just posting this sad case for a couple reasons: 1. To show an oral cancer case (7 years in practice, have only seen this three times). 2. The failures of our medical counterparts in diagnosis-I think being critical in a case like this is warranted. ■ Member Since: 10/24/10 Post: 1 of 6 4/6/2021 dentaltown.com \\ SEPTEMBER 2021 31https://www.dentaltown.com/messageboard/thread.aspx?s=2&f=134&t=354728&g=1 http://www.dentaltown.com
