message board Knock to a Front Tooth 12yo UK Townie 'stulb' discusses endodontics and orthodontics in this trauma case stulb Member Since: 16/03/10 Posts: 1 of 5 Hello, I've had a young boy in after a knock to his front tooth. (Upper left central) The tooth still gives a positive response to endo frost, isn't tender to percussion, no change in position, no colour change. The only damage was a minor incisal chip-so slight we didn't even repair. A periapical showed a possible area but I thought it may be the overlap of the nasopalatine foramen in the absence of other symptoms. We agreed to keep under review. A month later he went to his ortho consult (referral sent a while back) and they requested another image to rule out any potential issues before moving the teeth. A second rad was taken. I think I can still see the area, but in all other respects the tooth looks fine. I'm attaching both rads. The mum isn't keen on delaying treatment to take a rad in 6-12 months. What do you think: Am I seeing an overlap or an area? ■ 9/12/2017 docgarth Member Since: 04/08/02 Posts: 2 of 5 surcher Member Since: 29/06/02 Posts: 3 of 5 stulb Member Since: 16/03/10 Posts: 4 of 5 likeaduck Member Since:15/08/16 Posts: 5 of 5 As long as it tests vital, and no color change is occurring, I would just continue to monitor. I wouldn't panic based on the PA film at this point. ■ 10/12/2017 I agree. Wouldn't do anything. ■ Would you be happy to let him proceed with ortho? ■ Yes, endo can still be done if the need arises during ortho. ■ Join the discussion online!
